Motor Coach Groups are welcome in the Decatur and Forsyth, Illinois area. Group tour planners will be happy to know that we are the ideal location for visiting all historic and cultural sites and attractions that abound in central Illinois. Group Tour Leaders know that many customers prefer getaways where they can return to the same hotel each night! Consider this when you are planning your next group tour to the central Illinois region:

• Illinois Amish Country (Atwood, Arthur, Chesterville, Arcola, Tuscola and Sullivan) is less than 30 minutes to the east. Tour Amish farms, dine family-style in Amish restaurants, visit Amish woodworking and quilt shops, learn about Amish culture and lifestyles at the Illinois Amish Interpretive Center and visit Rockome to experience its gardens, prairies and woodlands
• While in Amish Country, stop in at the Raggedy Ann & Andy Museum in Arcola
• The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois is 35 minutes to the west, along with Lincoln’s Tomb and other Springfield Lincoln sites
• New Salem and Petersburg lie about 45 minutes to the west
• Tour several Illinois wineries within an hour’s drive to the southeast
• See the Old State Capitol in Vandalia, an hour’s drive to the south
• Enjoy the museums, historic sites and attractions in Decatur, Illinois and Forsyth, Illinois

In addition to our significant Abraham Lincoln sites and other historic sites, the greater Decatur area has many other attractions that are appealing to groups. Mari-Mann Herb Farm is the largest herb farm in the Midwest. Mari-Mann offers tours of the farm and gardens, as well as group meals: brunches, luncheons, high teas or dinners made fresh on the premises by their own expert chefs from fresh products grown on the premises.

Decatur’s Richard J. Oglesby Mansion, James B. Millikin Homestead, the Macon County Museum Complex and the Hieronymous Mueller Museum also offer private tours for motor coach groups.

The Decatur Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, together with local businesses and attractions, has developed a special tour itinerary for groups to explore Haunted/Historic Decatur. The Convention & Visitors Bureau will work with Motor Coach Groups, Tour Operators and other Group Tour Leaders to customize itineraries for other specific areas of interest, such as arts and culture or culinary tours.
