The Decatur Area Convention & Visitor Bureau provides friendly guidance and excellent services to sporting event planners. We go out of our way to help turn your plans and ideas into reality, from the first impression to the finished product.
If your group is planning to bring 25 or more room nights to the area, our staff will assist you in every way possible, including:
Assisting you to find the perfect venue(s) for your event
- Assisting you in obtaining hospitality bids and room blocks

218' L x 124' W, 3,200 concert seating, 28,000 square foot exhibit space, 13'7" H x 14' service door, 24' beam clearance, Power service - 400 amp - 3 phase, 200 amp - single phase. Bleachers space for 1392 seating and can add additional chairs on the floor if needed.
Wrestling:
8 mats, will seat 1,200, (possible 3,000 seats) - depending on how much area is needed for mats and ring

Nelson Park

Host to Decatur’s annual Fourth of July Celebration & fireworks, Nelson Park overlooks Lake Decatur. Many recreational activities, both on land and water, are offered here. Private partnerships with operators of miniature golf, batting cages, and casual & fine dining establishments provide a variety of opportunities for family fun. Nelson Park Golf course was built in 1916. Nelson Park Swimming Pool was opened in 1965 and renovated in 1991 to serve as a competitive, 50 meter pool. Nelson Pool hosts many swim meets.
Sailing - Lake Decatur
The Decatur Park District Sunfish Sailing Club offers a great way to take advantage of the excitement and challenge of sunfish sailing. Sun fish are popular crafts for novice and experienced sailors alike.
Fairview Park

Fairview Park is 190 acres of green space devoted to family recreation. Its pavilions are host to gatherings of all types, and youngsters enjoy trying to lure the "big ones" from Dreamland Lake. Picnicking and playgrounds round out the fun. Fairview is home to the annual Lantern Parade.
Fairview Tennis Complex - Fairview Park
The Fairview Tennis Complex is one of the best outdoor facilities in the state of Illinois. A great variety of tennis programming is offered, and adults and children have the opportunity to participate in lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments and special events. Area tennis pros provide instruction and run tournaments during the summer months.
Biking/Walking Trail - Fairview Park
Walkers and bikers enjoy this paved trail which winds throughout Fairview Park, crosses Stevens Creek and traces the historic Interurban Railway. The trail leads through Kiwanis Park, to the Macon County Conservation District Bikeway and Rock Springs Environmental Center.
This quality trail provides for safe hiking, biking , rollerblading and walking while enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.

The DISC, owned and operated by the Decatur Park District, is located near Millikin University. the only facility of it's kind in central Illinois, this 87,000 square foot facility provides a number of recreational opportunities:

Golf
Hickory Point Golf Course

Hickory Point Golf Course is a course for everyone from the beginner to the competitive golfer. Its flat, wide fairways are perfect for learning, while long distances and the ever-present wind provide challenge for more experienced golfers. Hickory Point hosts the LPGA Duramed/Futures Charity Golf Classic every year, as well as many high school and college tournaments. Designed by Roger Packard, it offers a lighted driving range. The clubhouse was renovated in 2001.
Scovill Golf Course

Known as a "shot maker's course", Scovill's manicured fairways are hilly and tight, with undulating greens surrounded by mounds. Scovill was originally designed by Tom Bendelow, and recently redesigned by Dick Nugent.
Nelson Golf Course

Nelson is a short, hilly course, and home to the Decatur Park District’s junior golf program. Nelson is the oldest course in Decatur. This course is loaded with lots of blind shots. Designed by Tom Bendelow, better known as "the Johnny Apple seed of North American golf architects."
Red Tail Run Golf Course

Construction on the Red Tail Run Golf Club by Raymond Floyd began in the fall of 2004 and the course opened in the Spring of 2006. The 18-hole course is designed in the prairie style - using native plants, flowers and grasses - by pro golfer Raymond Floyd. There are five tee-boxes at each hole, providing players of all skill levels a challenging game of golf. The course is named after the red-tailed hawk, a raptor, which is making a strong comeback in central Illinois. The hawk is frequently seen soaring along Route 51 South in Decatur. Course distance runs from 5100 yards from the front tee boxes to 7300 yards from the back tee boxes. Par 72!
